Videocon GPRS settings for Android

I recently got a Videocon prepaid connection for the unlimited gprs that they offer for Rs. 96. Its a great offer as most other operators have got rid of the unlimited gprs. So here are the settings for the Rs 96 plan on videocon

Name: Videocon
APN: vinternet.com
Proxy: 10.202.5.145

Leave all the settings as not set or their defaults. if you have any questions leave them in the comments.

Restoring Backups form ovi

In my previous post, Here I went through the process to Backup your Nokia phones contacts with Ovi.
Here I am going to show you how to restore your contacts back to your phone.

First go to www.ovi.com and Sign In
That will take you a Screen that looks like this.

Click on the link that looks like an address book on the top left
Then on the following page click on "Manage your device" Located on the bottom left.



On the popup, click on "Restore your device"

On the next menu, click on confirm.


Wait for a minute, you will recieve a SMS from Nokia. 

Now get you phone out and open up the SMS that you recieved form Nokia. It will ask for the pin, enter the pin that the ovi web site gave you.


Now click on "Options" and select "Save"


Now open up applications.
Go to Tools

Finally go to sync. ( the location of sync differs between models, just look around you will find it )

Now select Ovi.com, click on options and then click on Synchronise
Wait for the sync to complete.
All your contacts should have been restored.

Lets make sure that you have everything for ovi to work
  1. A fairly new Nokia Phone with GPRS or WiFi.
  2. A GPRS or WiFi connection to the Internet.
  3. An OVI accout.( its free )
If you dont have a OVI account, this is what you need to do.
  1. Go to ovi .
  2. Click on the Register Link on the top right.
  3.  Fill out this simple form and you are done.

Once your done with registration, Go back to www.ovi.com and Sign In
That will take you a Screen that looks like this.

Click on the link that looks like an address book on the top left
Then on the following page click on "Add a Device" Located on the bottom left.
On the popup that opens, select your phones model and click next.


On the next page enter your Mobile Number (eg +919840012345 ) and select your time zone.

Wait for a minute, you will recieve a SMS from Nokia.

Now click on "Options" and select "Save"


Now open up applications.
Go to Tools

Now wait for it to complete.
Once the sync is complete, all your contacts and calender entries have been backuped to ovi.
Synchronise you phone as often as possible in order to have a backup all your contacts up to date.
